The swiftest and easiest way to acquire an emergency visa for Vietnam is by opting for an expedited e-visa service. Usually, a regular Vietnam e-visa takes around 3-5 business days to get processed. Yet, if you pay an extra fee for expedited processing and choose a faster processing time, you can get approval within just 4-8 working hours on a normal weekday.

Below are the primary choices for obtaining a quick e-visa for Vietnam.

Expedited Pending E-Visa Application

In case you’ve applied for a Vietnam e-visa on the government’s authorized website but haven’t received approval yet, you can accelerate the process by paying an additional charge. You will be required to provide your pending application code and choose one of the three options available for quicker processing: same day, next working day delivery, or 2 working days. The cost of this expedited service varies from $50 to $80 in addition to the standard $25 e-visa fee.

  • Fastest processing: 4-8 working hours (weekdays only)
  • Not available on weekends/holidays
  • Only for pending applications

Emergency E-Visa Service

Another option is to request a new e-visa with expedited or emergency processing if you have not yet done so. This involves completing an online visa application form, submitting passport pages and photographs, providing travel details, and paying the applicable fees. The visa processing time varies from 1 to 2 business days, and the cost ranges from $50-120 depending on how quickly you need the visa.

  • Fastest processing: 1 working day
  • Weekend/holiday processing not available
  • For new e-visa applications

Vietnam Visa On Arrival

A choice is to request for pre-authorization for a visa when you arrive in Vietnam. You will be granted an approval notice within 1-2 business hours, which you have to print and take with you to the airport. Upon arrival at one of Vietnam’s international airports, you can get your visa stamped on your passport at the visa-on-arrival desk. The fees vary from $29 to $139 depending on whether you need a single or multiple-entry permit.

  • Fastest processing: 2-4 working hours (weekdays)
  • Only available when traveling by air on a tour package

Fast Visa to Vietnam

Traveling to Vietnam can be an exciting adventure, whether you’re visiting for tourism, business, or study. If you’re planning a trip in 2025, here are some comprehensive tips to help you secure a fast visa.

1. Understand Visa Types

Vietnam offers several types of visas depending on your purpose of travel:

  • Tourist Visa (DL): Generally valid for 30 days and can be single or multiple entry.
  • Business Visa (DN): For work-related purposes, usually granted for up to 12 months.
  • Student Visa: For those looking to study in Vietnam.
  • Transit Visa: Required if you plan to stop in Vietnam on your way to another destination.

Make sure you know which visa suits your needs as it affects processing times and requirements.

2. Check Visa Exemptions

Before applying, check if you qualify for a visa exemption. Citizens from certain countries can stay in Vietnam without applying for a visa for periods ranging from 14 to 90 days. This applies to countries like Japan, South Korea, and several ASEAN nations.

3. Prepare Required Documents

Gather all necessary documents before starting the application process. Common requirements include:

  • Passport: Must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure date from Vietnam.
  • Visa Application Form: Fill this out accurately with the required details.
  • Passport-sized Photos: Usually two recent photos are needed.
  • Proof of Accommodation: Hotel bookings or an invitation letter from a host in Vietnam.
  • Travel Itinerary: Outline of your travel plans, including flights.
  • Financial Proof: Bank statements or proof of sufficient funds might be required.

Having these documents ready will streamline the process.

4. Choose the Right Application Method

You can apply for a Vietnamese visa through:

  • Embassy/Consulate: Visiting your nearest Vietnamese diplomatic mission is one of the traditional ways. Make an appointment if required and be prepared for potential wait times.
  • E-Visa: As of October 2023, Vietnam allows travelers from over 80 countries to apply for an e-visa online. This is often the quickest method, with a processing time of about three working days. Simply visit the official government website to fill out the application.
  • Visa on Arrival: This option is available only for those arriving by air. You need to pre-arrange an approval letter via a travel agency and present it upon arrival. Though convenient, ensure you have cash ready for the visa fee.

5. Expedited Processing Options

If you need your visa urgently, consider these options:

  • Express Service: Many embassies and online services offer expedited processing for an additional fee. This can reduce processing time to 24 hours or even same-day service, depending on the method chosen.
  • Use a Reliable Travel Agency: Some agencies specialize in facilitating quick visa applications. They can navigate complexities and assist with documentation, saving you time.

6. Follow Up on Your Application

After submission, monitor your application status if it’s done online. For embassy applications, don’t hesitate to call or email them to check on your status. Often, patience is key, but a polite inquiry can sometimes speed things along.

7. Verify Official Information

Always refer to official government websites or reputable sources for updated visa information. Visa policies can change, and misinformation can lead to delays or denial of entry.
